Did you know that guacamole is an Aztec invention? Avocados were cultivated over 7,000 years ago in south-central Mexico. They were first planted in the US in Florida in 1833 and in California in 1856.

However, the fact that avocado trees require quite a bit of water could be problematic in a state like California where droughts have been persistent. Each piece of fruit requires 60 gallons of water. 1

Tip:
