Waring History

Waring, universally known for introducing the first blender in America, is one of today's leading manufacturers of professional-quality appliances for the home and foodservice and laboratory industries. The company manufactures culinary appliances in two product segments: Waring Commercial, consisting of high-performance, large-volume food processors and blenders, heavy-duty heating appliances such as grills, griddles, toasters and deep fryers, and a variety of specialty products; and Waring Pro, a line of professional-quality consumer products that includes everything from blenders and juice extractors to food slicers, waffle makers and convection ovens. With 75 years of manufacturing expertise, Waring is proud to offer the most professional products for professional results.

1937

Fred Waring, a popular entertainer during the 1930s, '40s and '50s, introduces the "Miracle Mixer," the first blender in recorded history, to the American public at the National Restaurant Show. "Miracle Mixer" is officially renamed Waring Corporation and the appliance name is changed to the "Waring Blendor".

1946

World War II halts blender production between 1941 and 1945, but Waring sales take off again as consumer demand grows. Product innovations continue with the introduction of color-coordinated blenders with solid-state controls, and attachments that crush ice and grind coffee beans.

1950

The Waring Blendor sees new uses constantly emerging. The blender becomes widely used in hospitals and is a vital scientific research tool for Dr. Jonas Salk. Dr. Salk uses the blender with an aseptic dispersal container attachment to develop his lifesaving polio vaccine.

1954

The 1,000,000th Waring Blendor is sold.

Early '70s

Design and engineering breakthroughs by Waring lead to the creation of a more versatile blender that is more efficient and widely affordable. While maintaining its leadership position in the blender market, Waring capitalizes on its strong brand recognition and expands its product line with a broad range of fine-quality kitchen appliances, such as hand mixers, an automatic citrus juicer and the Waring Ice Cream Parlor®.

1977

Amid the continued success of its blender and other product lines, Waring purchases a 72,000-square-foot facility in McConnellsburg, PA.

1985

Waring continues to diversify its product line with the Waring Vortex Blenders and the Under Cabinet Blendor®/Can Opener. The company creates two new product divisions — Waring Pro and Waring Commercial.

1998

Waring is acquired by the Conair Corporation, as Waring is seen as one of the leading manufacturers of professional quality small appliances for the home and the foodservice, hospitality and laboratory industries.

2000

Building on its strong position in the kitchen electrics market, Waring kicks off the new millennium with a host of new products such as deep fryers and food slicers.

2003

Waring revolutionizes the kitchen once again with a commercial-style rotating Belgian waffle maker. The unit quickly makes waves in the industry and helps Waring to broaden its market reach yet again. Waring goes on to sell over 1,000,000 waffle makers before the decade is out.

Present Day

The Waring brand continues its focus on quality and performance with an ever-expanding line of household and commercial products. With a 75-year history of manufacturing expertise and a strong heritage incorporating technology and innovation in design, Waring continues its tireless pursuit of multi-category dominance.
